The Chiles Dept. of Theatre Arts will be presenting the fall play, The Birds on November 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chiles High School Theatre. Twenty-two Chiles students have been cast to play humans, Greek gods, and birds in this modern adaptation of the Greek comedy by Aristophanes written by Don Zolidis. In addition, 50 Chiles students will be working to create the technical demands of the show.
The Birds is the story of two men who are fed up with the problems of the modern world and leave to found a new utopia with the birds. This is a hilarious and satirical look at politics, religion, and the foolishness of mankind that revives and revamps Aristophanes’ classic Greek comedy. Chiles Department of Theatre will be using an array of fantastical costumes and beautiful scenery designed by advanced costume and scenic design students to create the world of the birds. And as a special feature, Chiles is bringing in a professional rigging company to help the birds actually fly on stage!
Tickets are $12 in advance available at the ChilesTheatre.com website, or at the door for $8.00. For questions, contact the director, Shannon O’Bryan at obryans@leonschools.net. This is a show you don’t want to miss!
