Coach Jahn Reflects on Historic Lincoln Win

How did it make you feel as a coach to win against Lincoln?

It was a great night to be the coach of this program, but the main reason I felt so good was seeing the pride and happiness on my players’ faces.

Are there any particular players you felt really went above and beyond to make this win possible?

I believe it was a complete team effort last Friday night, everyone stepped their game up and played great football.

Was there any new strategy you implemented in this game?
No new strategies, we just need to keep playing smart, hard hitting, consistent football.

How do you think this win has affected our team's confidence?

Our kids’ definitely believe in themselves and beating Lincoln has provided them with even more confidence moving forward.

Do you think the overall school pride has increased since the win?

The student body and faculty have been great all year in their support of our program.  The players seem to be responding well to the school pride that is being shown week in and week out.

What were your predictions for the game going into it?

I knew if we played great defense, and limited turnovers on offense we could beat them, and we did just that.

Do you think there were any underlying factors that contributed to the victory against Lincoln?

The rain last Friday helped us defensively, but hurt us offensively.

Do you feel that there was a lot of pressure for Chiles going to the game after all the back and forth between Chiles and Lincoln?

My guys didn’t seem to have any added pressure, they believed they could win and wanted to do it for all Chiles supporters.

Do you feel that the pressure was a greater help or detriment to the team's performance?

Good teams elevate their game when there is pressure and we have done that all year.

Do you think this victory marks a turning point in the Lincoln-Chiles rivalry, moving more in Chiles' favor?

I’m not sure if it puts the game in our favor, but I believe it makes it a game that we know we are capable of winning each year, and our kids will go into the game expecting to win instead of just keeping it close.
